Spam Filtering
Unsolicited junk email (spam) is a constant struggle pitting good vs evil. Although we constantly upgrade and tweak our spam filtering system, occasionally junk mail gets through, and also, real legitimate email gets marked as spam.
With each new upgrade to our filtering system, problems may arise. In early 2009, we devised a new system that filters spam, but alerts you with an email as to what messages are considered spam. As the system is trained, the need for this will become less and less, but occasionally you may find mail you want to read, being detected as junk mail.
If you see valid email messages in your daily junkmail report, there are two steps you can take.
(1) White Listing
Email addresses that send valid messages can be white-listed in our filters so that all future mail is allowed to pass. Any email message you send is automatically white-listed, so simply replying to an address will whitelist it. Alternatively, you can send a report or list of email addresses in the body of a new message to info@frogstar.com
Simply COPY and PASTE the FROM email addresses of any messages you want into a new email message to me. I'll whitelist all the addresses and you'll begin to get receive messages again. Within a short time, this training will make your spam filters smart, and you won't need it anymore.
(2) Reading email detected as spam
Messages detected as junk mail in the daily report, are still being sent to you, but they're hidden from your regular email download.
If you see messages you want to read and act on, they can be accessed via our web based mail system.
Login using your email address and password. If you are unfamiliar with your email password, you can call us and we'll help you reset it.
For some of you, the SPAM folder will already be active and visible in the folder listing down the right side below your inbox. This is where all those spam messages reside.
If you do not see this folder listed, you probably have to activate it. This is referred to as subscribing to the spam folder.
Steps to activate the SPAM filtered message folder
1) Find and click the FOLDERS link on the top of this page. (Yours may be a different colour)
2) At the bottom of this new window, you'll see two vertical boxes. In the one on the right, the word SPAM should appear. Click it, and then click SUBSCRIBE to move it from the right column to the left.
3) Logout and re-login, and you'll then see a SPAM folder containing all the spam messages that are being filtered.
You can read them, reply to them or ignore them. They will automatically be trimmed and deleted every 7 days.
